Ghost Train

Gregory started the ghost train, using this blanket.
Thomas didn't want to be left out.
Then there were two ghosts under one blanket making the train run around the house.
But sometimes little ghosts fall down.
(Thomas is sitting under the blanket in this picture. You can see his foot.)

Using this blanket is very smart of the boys, you can see where you're going under it, and still look like a ghost.

Pizza Science Theatre

Scientific Explorer Pizza Activity Kit Science Kit
Some times things don't go exactly how one expects.

Yesterday, I bought this kit for a pajama and pizza birthday party Clare was attending.  It was on sale and I had a great coupon so it ended up being about $3.00.

When I got home I noticed that it had a expiration date of August 2010.  I couldn't give that as a present!

We went out and got another present, and we decided to use the pizza kit ourselves.

We discarded the expired tomato sauce and replaced the yeast (when it wouldn't work), but the rest of the kit was fine.

It shows you how to make the dough and then cook 3 different types of pizza, thin crust, regular crust (called thick crust) and deep dish.

It was alot of fun.  Clare liked the regular pizza best (in the middle), Gregory liked the thin crust (on the right) and I was the only one brave enough to try the deep dish, which was really good.

The kit was also neat in that it taught you the origins of the different types of pizza and all about yeast.  There was even a little experiment using yeast, a bottle and a balloon.  Activated yeast lets off gas, which expands and can put air into a balloon.

Matilda (Special Edition)We ate our pizza while watching Matilda, which the big kids enjoyed and Thomas sat in one place watching it.  (He never sits still for movies, I think he liked the kids.)

I'm actually glad the pizzeria kit didn't become a gift, we enjoyed it.  It gave us something to do on a cold, wet, and snowy afternoon.

The Lingo

Thomas' vocabulary is growing but he prefers to answer questions with 2 different one word answers.  This makes for interesting conversations.

Me:  Thomas, you are getting so big, are you my big boy?
Thomas:  Nooo.
Me:  Are you my baby?
Thomas:  Nooo.
Me:  Are you my toddler?
Thomas:  Nooo.
Me:  Who are you then?
Thomas:  Mmmeee!

As you can see his 2 answers are no and me.   All questions that don't begin with a W sound/question word get a "no" for an answer.  All W sound/question words get a "me" for an answer.

I think the "me" response is based on knowing that people received goodies sometimes when asked "who wants a popsicle/ice cream/trip to the park/etc.

To love oneself....

We were talking about Grandma and Grandpa B and seeing them in the future

Gregory:  Grandpa B likes me!
Clare: And Grandma B likes me!
Me:  If Grandpa B likes Gregory and Grandma B likes Clare, who likes Thomas?
Thomas:  MMMMEEEEE!

Babyland!

No trip to GA is complete without a trip to Cabbage Patch Land.

Thomas was interested in the babies.
It's not Gregory, it's his baby clone.
One little girl was in heaven
So babies come from the cabbage patch, right?
 Catch the school bus
 Find the boys.
I'm giving her a new do
Let me help you out darling, you need a little brushing too.

A visit to nearby Helen, GA to visit the park.

All in all, a great day!

Visiting the Grandparents

It was such a treat to spend Christmas with my grandparents and parents.

Thomas got into opening everyone's presents.  He's wasn't as into his gifts, just the opening part.
We even got some snow on Christmas

Trying out a bike that is older than me (mom not Thomas).
 I'm getting so much attention!

We love car trips

We just enjoyed a wonderful week in Atlanta visiting my grandparents.  This included 2 twelve and a half hour car trips.

The children did very well in the car with very little fussing.  Every time we stopped though they seemed to have a little pent up energy.

Here we are at the Texas border.

Since we can't climb in the car we climb everything else we can find.  This is at the Mississippi welcome center.

Our visit was totally worth every hour of driving.
